The Witch's Guide to Werewolves is here!
Happy Tuesday! And happy release day to me! My latest paranormal romance is available now! The Witch's Guide to Werewolves is a short and sweet story about an optimistic witch and a maybe-werewolf, and I hope you love it as much as I do!
Callie McIntyre believes in a lot of things. She believes in tarot cards and moon magic, and that's the reason her last girlfriend left her. But she never believed in werewolves until she meets Devon Miller out in the woods one night.
Devon's story is crazy, but who's Callie to argue about it? With a full moon fast approaching, Callie is determined to help Devon tackle her fears. Sure, neither of them know a thing about werewolves, but with another reluctant lyncathrope in tow and all Callie's witchy optimism at work, surely they can get through Devon's first full moon in one piece... Right?

When
Quinn Hart’s best friend died, he became guardian to the man’s ten-year- old
son, Noah Stone. So far, Quinn has been able to conceal the growing attraction
he feels for Noah, but now Noah is twenty-two and returning home from college.
Honor still holds Quinn back from revealing his true feelings. Their community
of bear shifters consider reproduction a priority, and Quinn fears they would
never accept a homosexual relationship.
Noah
has always hidden his romantic feelings for his guardian, but now he’s a man,
and his desire is stronger than ever. Unable to handle his feelings, Noah
leaves Oregon for a position in a research facility. But when Noah arrives in
New York, he discovers his employer is harvesting bear bile and he’s the new
source.
Quinn
is determined to find Noah. But can he admit what he really wants before it’s
too late?
Excerpt
Home. Noah had forgotten
how much he missed the endless expanse of lush green landscape and the
sparkling river. And the trees. Especially the trees. When the leaves whispered
in the wind, it made Noah’s heart ache. Whoever had named their small town knew
that trees were sanctuaries.
But
for all that, home wasn’t a place, it was a person—Quinn. Noah could live
anywhere with Quinn. But a life with Quinn was as likely as a sharknado ripping
through Sanctuary.
Noah
moved away from the window and gazed at his reflection. The mirror was wall
mounted and speckled in places. The frame matched the wood dresser beneath it.
A handknitted brown and tan spread covered the crude pine bed. The room had
been decorated on a meager budget, but it was warm and comforting because Quinn
had handcrafted all the furniture himself.
Noah’s
bedroom hadn’t changed since he was a kid. Yesterday, when he’d first stepped
through the door, he’d felt the walls close in on him. As a kid, this room
seemed huge, but now that he was a man, he could see how small it really was.
It felt surreal like turning back the clock, but not in a bad way. If only he
could—
“Where’s
the man of the hour?”
The
sound of loud voices traveled up the stairs. More guests had arrived for the party.
The community was small, but when everyone attended an event, it could be
overwhelming. Noah checked his image in the mirror again. He’d already changed
shirts several times, and he still wasn’t sure that he liked the blue chambray
shirt he’d put on with his khakis. Why am I making such a big deal out
of this? He felt like Marcus primping for one of those stupid frat
parties. What difference did it make what color shirt he wore? Stop
stalling, he told himself. You can’t stay in your room forever.
Noah
stood at the top of the stairs. Below, friends and neighbors were chatting
excitedly. Noah had nothing to say to them. He would disappoint them. Anxiety
made his stomach churn.
Happy Reading!

Author Interview - Aletta Thorne and her ghostly romance
I know, I know, I should have got this up yesterday. It would have made a perfect Halloween post! In my defense, I've had a headache since Sunday and I'm having a bout of seasonal affective disorder that's been kicking my ass, so I've basically been shirking...everything except the basics, I guess. You know, the day job, tea, cheesecake.
Anyway! It's the first of November and Aletta Thorne is here to talk about her new release, The Chef and the Ghost of Bartholomew Addison Jenkins, which is just a fantastic title. So, no more excuses from me - let's find out what it's all about!
Anyway! It's the first of November and Aletta Thorne is here to talk about her new release, The Chef and the Ghost of Bartholomew Addison Jenkins, which is just a fantastic title. So, no more excuses from me - let's find out what it's all about!
Hi, Aletta! Tell us a little bit
about your newest release.
My new book, The
Chef and the Ghost of Bartholomew Addison Jenkins answers a question you
probably haven’t asked, although I can’t imagine why not! What happens if
you have a one-nighter with a ghost? The story is set in a little Hudson
River town in upstate New York, in the autumn of 1982. The main character is a
woman chef trying to recover from a nasty divorce. The restaurant world
was a pretty crazy place in the early 80’s. So: Revolutionary war era
ghosts--and cooks. And believe it or not, a happy ending, but it’s a
pretty wild ride.
So we've got the 80s, food, and a ghost. This sounds perfect! Was there any part of
this story you found particularly tough to write? If so, why?
I’ve written YA books.
This is my first adult romance. At first it felt weird NOT to cut
away during the love scenes. But after I got used to it, I was able to
cope quite nicely by fanning myself a little and having a Diet Coke, thank you
very much. My life has been…enriched!
Funny how something that seems challenging at first can end up being
liberating. And wonderful.
So leading on from that, is there any part of
this story you absolutely love, and why?
I love my characters.
The lead ghost is pretty complex: confident, needy, and quite sexy.
His side-kick Geoff is very funny, too. He’s a trickster. I
love the setting. I was a chef for a while in the 80’s and those were
wild days. It was fun being about to write about that pirate ship world.
Anthony Bourdain doesn’t lie about how nuts it was. Professional cooks
are interesting people: smart, tough, and practical. Risk-takers. A
tribe, for certain.
I'm always fascinated by behind-the-scenes accounts from the restaurant world! Do you have a favourite
genre to write in?
I’m a paranormal author
if I’m writing fiction, whether it’s for grownups or for teens. I just like
magic--stuff that can’t possibly happen, but does. And I almost always
write in the past. I guess it’s the “once upon a time” beginning that
hooks me in creatively. My YA books are time travelers.
I feel the same way about magic :) If you could have
dinner with any three writers, living or dead, who would they be?
Hmm...Madeleine L’Engle
(who wrote A Wrinkle in Time) is a huge hero of mine, and informs
my writing for young people. I guess I’d also invite the contemporary
British author of historical fiction Sarah Waters, who blows me away every time
I open one of her books. And the American poet Anne Sexton, who kept me
sane during college years, and I think would have been wonderful to have a few
glasses of wine with. I’m sorry I never got to at least thank her.
That would be a good party!
Good choices! Anne Sexton would be a great person to sit down for a drink with. Are there any books you
can just read over and over again and never get sick of?
I used to teach high
school English, so I’ve probably read The Scarlet Letter twenty
times. Although Hawthorne was a gloomy gus and I don’t think I’d want to dine
with him, that is pretty much a perfect novel. (He was, however, really
cute. Google him and see!)
![]() |
| I felt obliged to add a picture of Nathaniel Hawthorne for you all. |
If you could recommend
any book (beside your own) to everyone reading this, what would it be?
Lincoln in the Bardo totally deserves the Man Booker Prize, and I’m
not just saying that ‘cause I’m from the States. Mind blown!
Now the hardball question. Tea or coffee?
Coffee, preferably
latte. Two cups in the morning, while I write.
I'm starting to feel like the only tea-drinker in the world! Apart from writing,
what are your great passions in life?
I love music. I
sing choral music regularly, and play guitar and dulcimer. I used to ring
tower chimes in a church in New York City. I DJ rock and roll at a little
internet radio station, and I listen to absolutely everything. I’m
currently obsessed with a group called Offa Rex.
Awesome! My fiance used to DJ regularly, and still breaks out the decks every now and then. What else are you
working on right now? What's up next from you?
I’m going to bang
through something during National Novel Writing Month in November. I’m
actually toying with going way outside my comfort zone and writing a romance
about a woman trying to live in one of the tiny houses that seem to be on TV so
much lately.
My all-purpose writer’s website is still
under my real name, Christine Potter, (although posts about the romance are
starting to appear there, too). Because
I will continue to write YA, I’ll probably split off a site for Aletta, but for
now:

Instagram (all my writing here, too): https://www.instagram.com/chrispygal/
Thanks, Aletta! So, now you know a bit more about the author and her book, how about a teaser from it? But first - don't forget to pick up your copy!
Excerpt
“You’ll turn over the record. Oh, because you…”
“I do like to keep up. Who poured you wine from the … refrigerator? Although, I don’t understand why people of your age prefer it so icy.”
Alma followed Bart into the living room, still wondering why things didn’t seem odder than they were. She remembered the Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoons she’d seen as a little girl. This ghost was acting—well, perhaps a bit more flirty than friendly. He only glowed a bit as they walked through the dim hallway that connected her rooms. You can hardly even tell he’s translucent. What had he seen of her, though? She was glad her frustrating night with Sid had been at his place.
As Bart bent over the turntable and flipped the record, the reading lamp by her couch highlighted the silver buttons of his coat. She curled up on the couch and put her wine glass on the glass-covered orange crate she’d turned into a coffee table.
Bart sat beside her, suspiciously close. He put an arm over the back of the couch, and Alma shook her head again. That’s the old sneaky-arm trick—like a high school kid. It’s kind of cute. She pulled her legs up under herself, and they quietly listened to the music.
“You’re right,” she said after a few minutes. “‘Fountains’ is really good, too. I almost never listen to that side.”
Bart made a quiet harrumphing noise.
Do ghosts clear their throats? Apparently so.
“Dear lady,” he said. “Although I do try not to snoop, as you would say, I have indeed observed your solitude. Let me assure you, your life will soon be happier.” He slid even closer to her.
Okay. Now the ghost is absolutely coming on to me. This is really happening. Oh, hell—why not? He’s not bad—for a dead guy.
“Um, Bart?” she said. His eyes really were a startling color—almost bronze… “You can’t actually be…”
Bart set his fingertips on her cheeks, looked into her eyes, and sighed. Then he smiled. “You think this is a ridiculous situation. It’s not ridiculous,” he said. “Not at all. Allow me to demonstrate … with your permission, m’lady.”
Somehow, that was funny, and Alma giggled. “Granted.”
Bart’s hands were impossibly soft and gentle—and his touch had some of the same fire-and-ice buzz that she’d felt before in the kitchen when he’d tried to get her attention. He guided her lips to his, and gave her what would have been a tiny peck—from anyone else. It shot a bolt of fire straight through her.
“Oh,” she said. It took a minute to get her breath.

Flashback Friday - Three authors for the price of one!
Happy Friday, folks! I'm coming at you live from my sofa, because I've got a four-day weekend! The plan is simple: write, drink tea, watch cooking shows. Currently I'm in the "drink tea" part of the plan (although I've already written 500 words this morning, so basically everything is going well). Anyway! While I focus on those tasks, I'm leaving with three talented authors and a paranormal romance series with all the ingredients you need for a hella good time. Enjoy!
The existence of the Dark Fae and their Goddess comes as a shock, but the fates had one more surprise in store for Erica and her mates in the form of orphaned twin babies who steal their hearts, but these children are not like the Fae Erica is familiar with. They come with powers that she and her husbands know nothing about. Dark Fae council will watch over them to decide if they are capable of raising the twins, making Ben, Erica and Leo feel the pressure of having their every move scrutinized.
They say that when
one door closes another shall open, but when Erica made her choice to
stop a madman, she couldn’t have imagined the price that she would
have to pay. The future she’d risked everything for had just
changed forever.

navigate the uncertain waters of parenting? …and will the Dark Fae
council decide to let them try?

Excerpt:
Erica stopped in the
doorway and turned to look back at her sleeping babies. The Goddesses
truly did work in mysterious ways, she thought. She might not have
had the pleasure of birthing the twins, but they were hers. She knew
it with everything in her. They were hers!
“Come on, love,”
Ben whispered in her ear as he urged her to lean back against him.
“Leave them to dream of all the mischief and grief they will cause
us over the next few decades. Now that they’re asleep, let’s make
the most of this time we have alone.”
Heat swirled within
her, and she nodded. They had been Mommy, Poppa, and Daddy all day.
Now it was time for Mommy to get her some.
****
Leo had gone on ahead
to the bedroom and lit all the candles they had, creating a golden
glow that made Erica look radiant when she entered moments later with
Ben. The smile on her face when she looked his way still made his
heart skip a beat, just as it had the very first moment he’d seen
her. He would swear that if he didn’t have a shifter’s strength,
the sheer joy he’d felt since bringing the babies home and seeing
Erica blossom as a mother would have made his heart explode.
He couldn’t have
anticipated how two small little beings could instantly repair the
gaping hole that had been ripped into their souls when the Goddess
Allyria had told them the price they would pay for Alefric’s
demise. But here they were, starting a new journey together, albeit,
this one filled with much less danger, and much more need for an
endless supply of wet wipes, but certainly just as important as
anything Leo had ever done in his life previous. They would love and
protect these children, and they would raise them to be the kind of
people who made both sides of the Veil a better place.
“You look so resolved
right now, Leo. What are you thinking about?” Erica stopped in
front of him to gently caress his cheek with her hand.
“Just about how lucky
we are … and how lucky
you’re about to get.” He leaned in to kiss her as he landed a
quick smack to her jean covered ass that made her yelp and laugh into
his mouth.
“Now we’re
talking,” Ben said. He quickly shucked off his own jeans and
stepped up behind Erica to unbutton her top, revealing her soft,
perfect breasts. He gently pulled back her wrists, using her top as a
makeshift rope to bind them behind her. “How do you want it
tonight, baby?”
Leo could tell from the
quick increase in her breathing that she was in the mood for
something a little edgier than “sweet” tonight.
“Mmm, I think I know
exactly what our naughty little mate is looking for, don’t I,
baby?” He cocked one eyebrow at her, and her eyes grew hooded as
she bit down on her lower lip, indicating that she knew exactly the
type of evening he had in mind. “Ben, get on the bed, sitting with
your back against the headboard. You, my love, strip off those
clothes for me, now.”

Marsh
Sarah Marsh was born in
British Columbia where she still lives. She has only recently began
her writing career, finding it the perfect outlet for taking the edge
off a nine to five office job. She’s been a science fiction and
romance junkie for years and when her imagination started to take the
characters she’d read about even further in their adventures, she
decided to try writing something of her own.
Sarah’s also a former
pastry chef and spends a lot of time cooking and baking for friends

are animals of any kind … she even loves the ones that wake you up
at four in the morning because they can almost see the bottom of
their food dish.
When it comes to life in general, she’s a big
believer that laughter is the best medicine and that there’s no
such thing as too much love, which is why she’s such a sucker for a

Excerpt:
“Wait up, Kaila.”
She didn’t acknowledge him, and he
rushed to catch up with her. He grasped her wrist, spinning her around with
force.
“Didn’t you hear me?” he asked.
Kaila’s gaze narrowed. Her lips
pursed into an ugly grimace.
“Let go of me, Seamus. Why don’t you
let this weak human die already?” She poked him
in the chest with her index
finger. “I didn’t ask for your help.”
Seamus scrubbed a hand over his
face. “What is wrong with you? You’re not making any sense. I know you didn’t
ask for my help. I gave it freely, but you aren’t going to deny that we are
different, are you?”
“Fuck you.”
Blinding rage took over him. Seamus
dug his fingers into her arm. He was tired of all this nonsense. He pulled her
closer. Her arm shot out to keep him away, but not fast enough. He swooped down
and claimed her lips. She gasped, and he seized the chance to push his tongue
into her warm recess. He groaned. She tasted better than he remembered. For a
brief moment, she grappled with him, attempting to break lose, but he grabbed
her arms with ease and held them behind her back.
He twisted his tongue around hers,
drawing it out from its reluctance and forcing it to battle with his. Something
in his chest tightened as she responded. Yes. He sucked and tugged and
demanded more. She gave it to him. Her body arched against his, her mouth
seeking his with almost as much desperation as he possessed. His hold on her
slackened.
He wanted to touch her everywhere. To press his lips to her body and
taste every inch of her. His hand trailed to the curve of her ass, then to her
waist. Then, bang! Her knee slammed against his leg. He released her, cursing.
He’d probably be incapacitated for life if she’d hit her mark.
“Fuck you, Seamus.”
“Whenever you want, babe. I know
you’ve got the hots for me, even if you just tried to castrate me and failed
miserably.” He laughed.
Kaila spun and walked away from him
again. She was probably not trying to be sultry, but her hips swayed in that
way that drove a man to stare. She lifted her arm and gave him the finger. He
grinned. She was pissed and sexy. He loved it.
Seamus took in a shaky breath.
Watching her back on her feet, her spirit alive and surging, was soothing. He
rubbed at the spot where she’d kneed him. It hurt, but it was proof that she
was herself again, not lying in a puddle of blood, shredded to pieces by a monster.
He glanced at the Dream Catcher’s skeleton out of the corner of his eye. He
hadn’t told Kaila the details of what he’d suffered inside the beast. The
images of her dead body, broken, destroyed. He didn’t wish his worst enemy a
fate like that.
He stretched his wings and snapped
them back into place. Even they ached. He adjusted his now-flaccid cock and
shuddered. He hurried after Kaila. The place appeared deserted. There were no
scones in the wall giving off light. Instead, the walls themselves seemed to
pulse with energy. They glowed from the inside as if behind them a relentless
flame burned. He frowned. He extended his arm and placed his pinkie on the
rock. It burned.
“Damn it.” He put the digit in his
mouth, hoping to sooth the sting. “Don’t touch the walls, babe. They’re hot.”
Kaila didn’t reply, but she moved a
little closer to the center of the path.
