VOID DREAMS is coming!

This is the official post to make it officially official! VOID DREAMS, Blood Canticles 6, is coming to Evernight in October! As usual, more details as I get them, but here's the blurb to get you excited.

Lola and Tristesse are back where they belong...but they didn't come alone.

Something is haunting the streets and dreams of Fort Rosser, and when Lola's clients start dying, she's forced to accept that Gehenna hasn't let her go yet.

Now Lola and her friends are in a race against time to stop a monster that can only grow more powerful. Cut off from the immense magic of the patrons, Lola needs to get creative to deal with this threat. But everyone has their limits. If Lola goes too far, can Tristesse bring her home?

This is the penultimate Blood Canticles book, and I'm kinda nervous about it. The series has become a big, important part of my life since I wrote BLOOD WITCH in 2014, and it's sort of hard to imagine my writing schedule without Lola and Tristesse on it.

Luckily, there is still one more book to write...and until then, I'm just going to get hyped about VOID DREAMS being on the horizon! Hopefully you'll join me!

Red Hot News!

I've just signed the contract for CHAOS SONGS, book five in the Blood Canticles series! This feels like it's been a long time coming. I didn't have any books in the series out last year, because...you know... the whole move-to-Amsterdam affair. I got pretty distracted, and then pretty worried the book was terrible, and then I wrote a completely different book.

Anyway! I'm thrilled to be able to finally say that Tristesse and Lola's next adventure is coming soon - hopefully April. Stay tuned for more news! In the meantime, here's the (unedited blurb) for your edification.

Chaos magic makes anything possible. Even the unthinkable.

Lola and Tristesse have defeated one enemy, but Gehenna isn’t finished with them yet. A way home seems impossible. And while Lola struggles with the magical bond she forged with the mysterious patrons, the Shrouded Guard are still hunting them down.

Forced into strange alliances with rebel demons and an underground cult, Lola and Tristesse must decide what they’re willing to do - and to sacrifice - to escape. And if they don’t decide fast, the choice may be taken from them.

News! News! News!

I am thrilled to announce that IMPERIAL DEMONS has been accepted by Evernight! The contract is signed and we have a projected release date of October. So, if all goes well, you get Lola and Tristesse's big adventure before the end of the year! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

I love this book and I love the future tales it will let me tell for these ladies. I can't wait to share it with you all! More details as I get them, as ever, but in the meantime, here's the (unofficial) blurb:

Magic can make you mad. Love can make you dangerous.

Tristesse is gone, taken between worlds to be the bride of a sadistic demon prince. And Lola will do anything to get her back. Crossing into Gehenna is only the start. Hunted by monsters and accompanied by allies she can’t trust, Lola must endure the horrors of the demon world, and embrace the darkness of demon magic. If it doesn’t consume her, it might just save both her and Tristesse.

But in Gehenna nothing is guaranteed. Nothing except pain.

Good news, everyone!

I'm delighted to announce that I've just signed the contract for the creepy ocean story ON A DARK TIDE, and it's coming to Evernight in June! Release dates are always subject to change, but potentially that means you could get LICH QUEEN and ON A DARK TIDE in the same month! Huzzahs!

As usual, more details will follow as I get them, but in the meantime, here's the (unedited) blurb:

True crime podcasters Piper and Cam have travelled to the sleepy seaside town of Findlay to investigate the disappearance of a woman nearly a decade ago. The theories are wild - everything from murder to mermaids, and Piper is determined to get to the truth. Battling her fear of the ocean, Piper soon realises that Findlay has deeper, darker secrets than she could ever have believed. As she struggles to master her fear and deal with her unrequited love for Cam, Piper is lured into perilous waters. The truth waits beneath the waves - and Piper's fate waits with it.

News! News! News!

So I'm a tiny bit superstitious and wouldn't normally post about this until the contract is signed, but I am so excited about it, I'm giving superstition the finger this time.

LICH QUEEN is coming!

Evernight said yes to LICH QUEEN, which means Dawn Hardy's story is coming your way soon. I cannot tell you how relieved I am about this. Dawn's story is an essential part of the Blood Canticles series, and I loved the hell out of writing it, and for some reason I convinced myself it was going to get rejected. Blame it on generalised anxiety. But it didn't get rejected! \o/

I won't have a projected release date until the contract is signed, but I can share the (unedited) blurb with you.

Magic has ruined Detective Dawn Hardy's life.

Her partner is dead, her career is on the rocks, and Dawn fears she herself may no longer be human.

While she struggles with the aftermath of a vampire attack, dead bodies are going missing around Fort Rosser. A demonic plot is brewing, and Dawn and her friends may be the only ones who can stop it. If they can stop fighting each other. And if Dawn can conquer the growing darkness inside herself.

Vampires and demons were just the beginning.

I cannot wait to share more of the Blood Canticles world with you, or for you to get inside Dawn's head with me. In the meantime, I'm going to be working on finishing up Imperial Demons so you can also get more Lola and Tristesse! I say finishing up...I am nowhere near done, but I'm hopefully I can get a first draft finished in April. Stay tuned!

Socially Awkward Werewolves In Love

I am thrilled (and somewhat relieved) to announce that IN COLD BLOOD has been accepted for publication by Evernight. Huzzahs!

I say relieved, because regular readers will know I really had my doubts about this story, about how well it worked, about whether it was worth the time I was spending on it, and a ton of other things. My protagonists, Phoebe and Aisling, are a bundle of messes, with anxiety and anti-social behaviour driving them both, and I wasn't sure whether anyone would want to read about these ladies.

But I'm glad I pushed on and finished it, and I'm forever grateful to Ally at Word Vagabond for taking time out of her absolutely crazy schedule to beta-read for me and give me the feedback that finally gave me the courage to submit. I'm also grateful to the acquiring editor at Evernight for her feedback, which helped me re-shape the ending of IN COLD BLOOD and finally get Phoebe and Aisling's story told.

So huzzahs! My Socially Awkward Werewolves in Love are coming! We have a projected release date of February 2017, but as usual, I'll share more details once I have them. In the meantime, here's the unedited blurb to whet your appetites:

Phoebe Fairley wanted to be a librarian. Somehow, she’s become a vampire hunter. Women are dying across the country and the police are baffled. Phoebe’s just supposed to be gathering information on the deaths, but as the body count mounts, she can’t help but break the rules and get involved. She knows what the killer is – and catching and containing it is vital. If she can persuade the police to believe her, and keep her secretive bosses happy, she stands a chance of capturing a very real, very deadly vampire. Not bad for a werewolf who can’t shapeshift.

Aisling is happy living as a feral wolf. She’s got no time for human affairs, until a mysterious creature attacks her and leaves her in human hands. Now, if she wants her life back, she’ll have to join Phoebe’s hunt. There are just a couple of snags. One, she hates humans. And two, she’s falling hard for Phoebe. With a monster to catch and her own past to protect, will Aisling trust her head or her heart?

The Luporum novels are set in the same world as the Urban Wolf series, but centre on a different set of characters. You do not need to have read the Urban Wolf books to follow The Luporum, but it certainly can't hurt!
